Description

Patio Canario is an emblematic restaurant in the centre of La Laguna, serving Canarian food at affordable prices, located in an old house from 1739 declared a historical heritage site.

It is located in the centre of La Laguna and does not have a private car park, so parking in the surrounding area is often difficult. It is common to use paid car parks or look for parking in more remote areas.

The restaurant is in a 2-storey building with high ceilings, thick walls and wooden floors. Everything is very well decorated and set out. It has a wonderful open-air interior patio, as well as numerous dining rooms and hallways where they have placed smaller tables for couples.

On their extensive menu you can find starters and dishes to share such as stew, caldo lagunero, gazpacho, cheeses, almogrote, roasted leg, escaldón, pork tenderloin sandwiches, croquettes, various types of salads, chickpeas, breaded or stuffed mushrooms, padrón peppers, patatas bravas from La Gomera, candied aubergines, fried eggs… Various types of omelettes, such as the traditional potato one (with or without onion), country style, with almogrote, sweet blood sausage and Serrano ham… Fish dishes such as sardines, squid, calamari, tuna in marinade or grilled, prawns or razor clams, mussels, octopus with mojo and potatoes, cod in onions, dogfish in sauce, seafood grill… And meat dishes such as fiesta meat, chicken breast or tacos, meatballs in sauce, rabbit in salmorejo, pork knuckle, Iberian pork, entrecote, sirloin, and grills for several people.

They have a wide variety of homemade desserts, such as Príncipe Alberto, Bienmesabe, quesillo, frangollo, rice pudding, polvito lagunero, mousses, grandma’s cake… as well as fruit salad, yogurt with honey and pistachio, and a variety of ice creams from well-known brands.

As for wines, they have house wine served in bulk, both red and white. They have a good selection of bottles of red, white and rosé wines, both from the islands and national.

The waiters and service are generally attentive and professional. They give good recommendations and are efficient.

The prices at the establishment are also reasonable, somewhat higher than in a traditional guachinche, but generally quite affordable.

Both the quantity of food served in portions, as well as the quality, flavor and preparation of the dishes are quite good.

Reservations are accepted at the establishment, which is especially recommended on weekends and holidays, and you can celebrate small events such as birthdays, baptisms, communions, celebrations of friends, small weddings… as they have rooms equipped to comfortably accommodate groups of about 30-40 people.
