Guachinche El Timplillo

Description

Guachinche El Timplillo is a traditional family-run guachinche, with delicious Canarian food and homemade wine, located in the municipality of La Orotava.

This is a property surrounded by land and farming areas. The whole environment is wonderful and you can enjoy good views. The house is very well maintained and has a cozy indoor living room and dining room. It also has a wonderful outdoor terrace with great views.

The access is not very well signposted. Although the official address is Camino Montijos, you have to enter via the TF-324 (the road that connects La Orotava with La Perdoma). Near the first roundabout there is a steep street that looks more like a private road (on the street map it appears as El Padrino). This small street leads directly to the farm where the guachinche is located.

As for their menu, as a good traditional guachinche, it is not very varied, but it is very tasty with well-prepared dishes. You can find leg with spicy sauce (made by them), fresh cheese, beans with eggs, croquettes, salted fish and salted ribs, one of their great specialties, highly recommended.

They usually also have some extra dishes that vary depending on the season and genre.

As a licensed guachinche establishment, they do not offer desserts or coffee.

As for the wine, it is red and home-grown, of course.

The service provided by the staff is very good, although on days when the crowds are high you will need to be a little patient. The prices are quite affordable.

In short, Guachinche El Timplillo is a simple, family-run place with good, locally produced wine, located in a wonderful setting, with good views and a magnificent terrace, with good prices and service, close to the centre of La Orotava, although it can be a little complicated to get to due to poor signage and the narrow hill that has to be climbed.
