Guachinche El niño de Barreto is a traditional winery and guachinche serving typical Canarian food and homemade wine , with a wide variety of dishes and stews.

It is located in La Matanza de Acentejo, next to the football field, in an area with plenty of parking spaces . It has a small covered outdoor terrace and a large indoor dining room.

Their menu is very extensive and varied. You can find starters such as cheeses, soup, escaldón, salads, ropa vieja, mushrooms, eggs with a bang, fabada. Fish dishes such as cod, tuna, squid or octopus. And meat dishes such as carne fiesta, goat meat, bichillo, sirloin, pork secret… Their specialty is the so-called “Pico Teide”, a base of potatoes with sirloin strips and mushroom sauce.

The portions are generous, the quality and flavour of the dishes are very good, and the prices are quite reasonable.

Their desserts are homemade  and very varied, and you can usually find quesillo, Uruguayan polvito, mango-passion fruit dessert, chocolate and cookie flan, panna cotta, lemon tart…

As for wine , they offer their own wines along with wines from producers in the north of the island. This allows them not to close down as soon as they run out of their own harvest. They have both red and fruity white wines.

The waiters are very friendly and provide good service .

It is a very busy place on weekends and holidays, so we recommend that you make a reservation, or arm yourself with a little patience to get a table.

El Guachinche El niño de Barreto has many things going for it. It is a great place to enjoy a good meal at a good price, with good desserts and wine, great service and easy to get to and park.
