Guachinche Tenderete is an establishment serving Canarian food, grilled meats, local wine and homemade desserts in the municipality of La Orotava.
It is located very close to exit 32 of the northern highway (TF-5), just after leaving the roundabout towards Risco Caído / La Orotava.
The restaurant occupies the ground floor of a small building accessed by an entrance parallel to Risco Caído Street. It has a cosy, well-decorated dining room and a wonderful outdoor terrace with a few tables.
There is no private parking, but there are some parking spaces on public roads in the area, and some areas where you can leave your car without disturbing traffic.
The menu has plenty of options to choose from. As starters and dishes to share, they have watercress stew, escaldón, grilled or fresh cheese, house tomato, chickpeas, ropa vieja, various croquettes, salad, salmon or sweet potato salad… Fish dishes such as grilled octopus, Galician style or stewed; fish of the day, cod confit in almogrote, salted fish… And grilled and roasted meats such as chops, steaks, secreto, bichillo, sirloin, rabbit…
Their desserts are homemade. They make varieties such as quesillo, rice pudding, Canarian snack dessert, grandmother’s dessert…
They have house wine served in bulk, red wine from the Cruz Santa area, and semi-sweet white wine also from winegrowers on the island.
The treatment and service they provide is very good. They are kind, friendly and willing to help, making good recommendations.
The prices are quite good, reasonable, in line with a guachinche. The portions are adequate and the food is delicious and well prepared.
In short, Guachinche Tenderete is an easy place to get to, with delicious Canarian food at good prices, homemade desserts, good local wine, with a terrace and where they treat their customers well. If you are looking for a place with these characteristics in the northern area, try this guachinche.
