Description

El Empaquetado is a traditional Canarian food establishment in Granadilla, but presented in a slightly different, gourmet way, so we could consider it a modern guachinche.

It’s located near the Los Llanos neighborhood, next to the main road that leads up to the town of Granadilla. The restaurant’s name comes from the fact that it used to be a tomato packing house, which the original owner, Fito, decided to convert into the town’s first bar.

There is no private parking available, but there is more than enough parking in the area, both on public roads and in surrounding areas.

Their menu offers traditional dishes from authentic Canarian cuisine, some reinterpreted and updated. You can find starters and sharing dishes such as Canarian rancho, escaldón, chickpeas, roasted leg, dressed tomatoes, dogfish boiled in red mojo sauce, sardine, tomato, and onion sandwiches, and more substantial dishes such as cod with onions or confit, stewed octopus, fiesta meat, goat meat, and fried rabbit.

They make delicious homemade desserts, such as grandma’s cake, quesillo, Canarian snack, Canarian timba, cheesecake…

As for the wines, they have a good selection of wines from the island, especially from the Abona Designation of Origin. They don’t have any local house wines served in bulk, which would be nice and could be improved.

Don’t forget to order their coffee, which, served in a traditional Italian coffee maker, is a great way to finish off your meal.

The prices, without being high, are somewhat higher than those of a traditional guachinche, something completely understandable due to the good preparation and presentation that their dishes require, in addition to their products and raw materials used, which are clearly of quality.

The service is magnificent. They are very attentive, friendly, and helpful, and they make good recommendations to their clients.

They have a private room for business meetings, company lunches, family gatherings, and other small events and celebrations. They also have catering and event equipment for homes or estates.

El Empaquetado is an ideal establishment if you’re looking for traditional Canarian dishes with a slightly more innovative approach, using quality ingredients and well-served. It’s a place that’s easy to get to and park, where you can enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere at reasonable prices.
