Description

Bar Almogrote is a bar and café serving homemade Canarian food at affordable prices, with some dishes and specialties from the island of La Gomera.

It is located in the town of San Isidro, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. It is located in a relatively quiet area, where parking nearby is usually not very difficult due to the large number of parking spaces in the surrounding streets.

This family business occupies the ground floor of a house and has both an indoor dining room and a covered outdoor gallery. The decoration is simple and somewhat austere, reminiscent of the traditional guachinches of the north of the island. Its capacity is not very large, as it only has about 6 tables inside and about 3 on the terrace, although you can also eat at the bar.

Lunch is served from 12:30pm to 5pm.

Their menu is very well stocked. You can find starters such as salads, potato salad, omelette, tapas of different types of cheese, croquettes, dressed tomatoes, garlic prawns… Main dishes such as grilled or breaded chicken breast, cordon bleu, meat in sauce, secret, sirloin, fish churros, fillet of fogonero… all accompanied by French fries, salad…

On certain days of the week they make daily specials, such as authentic Gomero watercress stew, meatballs, meat with potatoes, Cuban rice, lentils, pork knuckle, squid in sauce, fish with onions, baked chicken thighs, goat meat…

Particularly noteworthy is its watercress stew, its almogrote cordon bleu and its goat meat.

They make homemade desserts daily, such as frangollo, mousses, pumpkin flan, and other varieties that usually rotate.

They have house red wine served in bulk.

As it is also a cafeteria, apart from coffees, cortados and some other liquors, they have a menu of snacks, sandwiches and pastries apart from the lunch menu.

They have an area with Gomera products for sale, such as the popular Gomera cookies or palm honey.

It is a place that surprises because it meets all the requirements for an excellent quality-price ratio, since the food is delicious, the prices are very affordable, the portions are well stocked, and the service offered is very good.

If you are in the southern area, near Granadilla, El Médano… and you fancy a good place for Canarian food with some typical dishes and desserts that are difficult to find, where they provide good service and the prices are affordable, this Bar Almogrote will undoubtedly meet your expectations.
