The 2025 Agrocanarias Official Wine Competition is being held in Fuerteventura, bringing together 227 samples from 60 wineries across the archipelago, marking a record number of participants in the event’s history.
For two days, 22 expert tasters will gather at the El Mirador Hotel in Puerto del Rosario to evaluate wines in blind tastings. The awards include gold, silver, and grand gold medals, as well as special prizes for Best Canary Islands Wine, Best Organic Wine, and Best Image and Presentation.
Tenerife leads the participation with 171 samples, followed by La Palma (14), Gran Canaria (13), Lanzarote and La Gomera (9 each), Fuerteventura (7) and El Hierro (4).
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, praised the work of professionals in the Canary Islands’ wine industry and their commitment to quality. For her part, the President of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Lola García, underscored the island’s commitment to excellence and professionalization in the sector.
The results of the competition will be announced on June 3 in Tenerife, where the Best Wine chosen by Canary Islands winemakers will be announced.
This event, organized by the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), not only promotes the quality of Canarian wines, but also boosts the local economy and highlights the archipelago’s winemaking wealth.
