Restaurante Padilla is a family-run establishment serving Canarian cuisine in the town of Las Zocas, in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, in the south of Tenerife.
This is a simple restaurant with very little to offer and very specialized in offering jareas (fish cut open and dried in the sun for days, typical of the Canary Islands). It is one of the few places in Tenerife where you can try this dish.
In fact, it is common to order jareas accompanied with kneaded gofio and wrinkled potatoes with mojo picón. And this is precisely the specialty of this restaurant.
It has a large indoor dining room, simple but comfortable and clean. There is no private parking, but nearby you will find several areas where you can park on the public road.
Their menu usually also offers other dishes, such as soup or Canarian stew, chickpeas, meat with potatoes, hake croquettes, and even squid or octopus… but without a doubt people come almost exclusively for their jareas.
They don’t usually have desserts, although they do have well-known ice cream brands.
They offer fruity white house wine served in bulk, sourced from independent winegrowers in the southern part of the island.
The service is good, they are very efficient and attentive. Both the prices and the amount of food served in the portions are correct.
In short, if you are looking for a simple place where you can enjoy a good meal, Restaurante Padilla is without a doubt one of the best options you can find in Tenerife. If you are looking for other types of food and Canarian dishes, it may not be the best option due to the limited range on offer.
